Overview

At the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, our vision is to be leaders in performing arts research, underpinned by a commitment to engagement and meaningful impact for our disciplines, the performing and creative arts sector and the broader community.

We aim to create connections and dialogue that champion inter and trans disciplinarity, among researchers and with industry, government, and society, and reflect our commitment to collaboration. We pursue innovation in our work and courageously pursue change.

WAAPA research is multi modal, dynamic and rigorous. It is iterative, reflexive, responsive and complex.

Our research covers musicology, historical and sociological analysis, artistic experimentation, performing arts with health intersections and discoveries with emerging technology and scientific enquiry.

Our future research will build on our strengths and grow research in emerging technologies, performance pedagogy and explorations of equity and access in the performing and creative arts.

WAAPA Research is centred on four pillars: the interconnected system of placepeopleprojects, and partners. Growing these ideas, relationships and systems is integral for producing research excellence with meaningful impact.
