Prepare for a night of extraordinary musicality as Grammy-nominated saxophonist Melissa Aldana graces the stage with WAAPA’s Jazz students. The New-York based, Chilean-born Aldana is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential voices in contemporary jazz. After being awarded a full scholarship to the Berklee College of Music, she won the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition before earning critical acclaim for her collaborations with top-tier musicians and for her role as a leader on Blue Note Records. This unforgettable event will feature a diverse lineup of performances, from the powerful sound of the WAAPA Big Band, to the intimate artistry of small ensembles, showcasing the depth and versatility of this incredible saxophonist and improviser.
