It is Figaro and Susanna’s wedding day, but there’s a hitch: their philandering employer, Count Almaviva, is out to bed the bride-to-be. His heartbroken wife, the Countess, conspires with the betrothed couple to foil the Count’s lustful advances. It takes one completely crazy day of disguises, duplicity, desire and utter madness to get the lovesick couple to the altar on time. Mozart’s sublime comic opera, performed in Jeremy Sam’s lively translation, is the ultimate tale of mistaken identity, fidelity, forgiveness and sparkling joy.
