In a magical meeting of East and West, staff and students from Nanjing University of the Arts (NUA) – one of the oldest and most-renowned music institutions of higher education in China – will perform three scintillating concerts with music faculty and students from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
WAAPA’s Associate Dean of Music, Associate Professor Jonathan Paget, directs these cross-continental musical feasts in the Richard Gill Auditorium, giving audiences an unparalleled experience of classical, jazz, contemporary and traditional Chinese music at its entrancing best.
Sparks and Synergies on Thursday, 25 July and East-West Alchemy on Friday ,26 July at 7.30pm celebrate the incredible talents of staff from NUA and WAAPA.
A week later, on Friday, 2 August, it is the turn of the students from both institutions to shine in the final collaborative concert, Ensembles Showcase, in which leading student ensembles will amaze you with their musical virtuosity.
“We are delighted to host the staff and students from NUA as visiting artists at WAAPA for a week of workshops and rehearsals, culminating in these three incredible concerts which will showcase the universality of musical collaboration," says Associate Professor Paget.
Don’t miss this special musical celebration of cross-cultural interaction and cooperation.
