WAAPA’s Contemporary Music program offers two majors:

Music Artist

This course emphasizes the creation of original music, songwriting, performance preparation and collaborative work. Music Artist students develop their own songwriting skills while also engaging in group projects with their peers to create new original material. The focus is on fostering individual and group creativity, encouraging students to explore performance, to step outside their comfort zone and experiment beyond their primary instrument.

Performance

This intensive, performance-based major centres on ensemble studies, giving students the opportunity to develop advanced instrumental and performance skills on their chosen instrument (vocal, guitar, bass, keyboard or drum-set).
