Students in The Actor’s Workshop program at WAAPA will develop the core skills needed to confidently perform on stage and screen. They will learn the importance of voice, movement and acting techniques through hands-on workshops. They will deepen their understanding of character development through improvisation, script analysis, scene work and audition preparation.
The Actor’s Workshop supports students in building self-confidence as they put their abilities into action on both stage and screen. Participants will develop ensemble skills and the confidence needed to collaborate and work as part of a team. They will be guided by experienced teachers, who aim to challenge students in a respectful and encouraging environment, allowing them to develop their talent and abilities.
Students are divided into Junior (Yr 7 to 9) and Senior (Yr 10 to 12) groups. Bookings are done on a term-by-term basis.
Each term has a specific focus:
Term 1: Fundamentals of acting are explored including acting technique, voice and movement.
Term 2: The fundamentals of acting are used as a basis to explore how to perform in front of a camera.
Term 3: Students turn their attention to text-based work and learn scenes from plays.
