Zak developed his love of chamber music with lessons from the Sorrel, Lindsay and Fitzwilliam quartets. He gained valuable orchestral experience playing with the Hallé, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and English Northern Philharmonia orchestras.
Zak moved to Perth in 1997 to join the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and become Principal 2nd Violin in 2014.

He has played on a diverse collection of recordings, from the soundtrack to Tim Winton’s ‘Breath’ to live Classic FM broadcasts, and has just finished recording James Ledger’s string quartets for the ABC.
