Sally is Lecturer in Viola and Chamber Music and is a member of WAAPA's Quartet in Residence, the Darlington Quartet.
Sally Boud was born in Perth and studied with Berian Evans at UWA. After graduating with First Class Honours, she continued her studies with Gertrude Rossbacher in Berlin. In 1999 Sally became a founding member of the Tankstream Quartet, which toured worldwide and was a prizewinner in several international competitions, including first prize at the Osaka International Competition in 2002 and second prize at the Premio Paolo Borciani in 2005. From 2004 to 2005 the quartet studied with the Alban Berg Quartet in Cologne. In 2006 the quartet was invited to become the Australian String Quartet, performing nationally and internationally and premiering many new works by Australian composers. Sally left the ASQ at the end of 2011 to pursue a busy and varied freelance career.
Sally has played with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony, as Guest Principal Viola with the Adelaide, Tasmanian, West Australian and Darwin Symphony Orchestras and as Guest Associate Principal with the New Zealand Symphony. She has appeared as a soloist with the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra, Perth Symphony, Ensemble 1685 and the Orchestra Collective. Sally is a member of the Darlington Quartet, which took up the position of Quartet in Residence at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2023.
